My Name is Joanna Gilbert, I’m a British abstract artist known for creating large-scale, visceral works full of movement, emotion, and colour.
My work has been exhibited across the UK and Europe — including at the Saatchi Gallery and in Hilton Hotels — and is collected by private clients, offices, and designers internationally.
But more than anything, I create to express what can’t always be said. My art is rooted in energy, healing, and the freedom to be yourself — and that's exactly what I offer in these workshops.
This isn’t about getting it ‘right’. It’s about letting go, tuning in, and making marks that come from somewhere real. Whether you’re a complete beginner or you haven’t painted in years, I’ll guide you to tap into your own creative voice — with no judgement and no pressure.
Reconnect with your inner self through intuitive mark-making, bold expression, and the healing power of abstract art.

Joanna is an artist that truly wants to share their passion and 'C'crets with others. Joanna's unique quality is her belief that art is a healing power to bring joy and freedom from life's troubles and to connect with the creation with no judgement or expectations. She really wants you to believe in yourself through the power of letting go and just have fun with colour! Thank you Joanna x Claire

Jo was very precise with her descriptions and explanations during all demonstrations. It was also a joy to watch her work. It was the first time I had truly tried abstract painting! I absolutely loved it - it was a perfect day!

It’s inspirational and exhilarating with folk we’ve never met and leave as friends. We all come together with our own worries and stresses, discuss so much - laughter and crying is so wonderful. Claire, Jo and Jane make us incredibly welcome and produce an incredible day of learning, creativity and fun. Delicious food and wine. The day is like a huge hug!
